Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information SetDip collects when you visit setdip.com or use the SetDip owner portal and tablet boards, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language on purpose. If anything is unclear, email us at setdip11@gmail.com.
The short version
- We collect your email, a password, your business details, and the recipes, photos and checklists you add.
- When you use the AI reader or translation, the text and photos you send go to our AI provider, Anthropic, so it can read them and send the results back.
- Your tablet link is public. Anyone who has the exact link can see the recipes, photos, logo and checklist initials on that board.
- We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising. We do not run ads, analytics trackers or tracking pixels.
- You can see, fix, download or delete your information. Email us and we will handle it within 45 days.
1. Who we are
SetDip is an online service that turns a business's recipes and checklists into simple tablet boards for staff. SetDip is run by its founder in Riverside County, California. In this policy, "SetDip," "we" and "us" mean the SetDip service and its operator. "You" means the business owner or manager who creates an account.
2. What we collect
These are the categories of personal information we collect and where each one comes from.
| Category | Examples | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | Email address and password. Your password is stored in scrambled (hashed) form, so we never see it. | You, when you sign up |
| Agreement record | Which version of this policy and the Terms you agreed to, the date and time, and that you confirmed you are 18 or older | You, at sign up |
| Business details | Business name, tablet link name, logo, colors, welcome line and other tablet look settings | You |
| Content you add | Recipes, ingredients, steps, notes, allergen tags, photos of recipe cards, checklists, Spanish translations and "out today" marks | You, and our AI provider when it reads or translates what you send |
| Staff checklist entries | Initials typed on a tablet and the time a task was checked off | Your staff, on the tablet |
| Technical information | IP address, browser type, device type and the pages requested | Automatically, through our hosting and database providers' server logs |
| Saved settings on your device | Your login session, the tablet's language choice and the initials last used on that tablet | Stored in your own browser (local storage), not on our servers |
We do not ask for and do not want sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, bank or card numbers, health information or government ID numbers. Please do not put that kind of information in recipes, notes, photos or checklists.
3. How we use it
- To create and run your account, log you in and reset your password.
- To build and show your tablet board.
- To read recipe photos and text with AI, and to translate your recipes and checklists into Spanish when you ask.
- To send emails you need, such as sign up confirmation and password reset links.
- To keep the service secure, stop abuse and fix problems.
- To keep a record that you agreed to our Terms and this policy.
- To follow the law and respond to valid legal requests.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build profiles about you.
4. AI features
When you tap "Read my recipes" or use translation, the text and photos you submit are sent from our server to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model. Anthropic reads them and sends back recipe cards or translations. Only logged in owners can use these features.
Anthropic handles this data as our service provider under its commercial terms for business customers. Under those terms, content sent through its API is not used to train its AI models. You can read Anthropic's privacy policy.
AI can make mistakes. Nothing the AI reads is saved until you review it and tap save. Always check quantities, steps and allergen tags before your staff use them.
5. Public tablet links
Your tablet link is not password protected. Anyone who has the exact link (for example setdip.com/yourshop) can see your business name, logo, recipes, recipe photos, checklists and the initials and times on checked off tasks. Photos are stored at web addresses that anyone with the address can open.
We do not publish a list of businesses, so people cannot browse to find your board. Only share your link with people you trust, and do not put private information on your board.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers that run SetDip for us, and only so they can provide that service. These are the categories of third parties we share with:
| Provider | What they do for us | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, logins and photo storage (United States) | Account details, business details, content, staff checklist entries, technical information |
| Netlify | Hosts the website and runs our server functions | Technical information, and content passing through the AI functions |
| Anthropic | AI reading and translation | Only the text and photos you submit to those features |
| Google Fonts and jsDelivr | Deliver the fonts and a code library our pages load | Your IP address and browser details when the page loads |
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety or our rights, or as part of selling or merging the business. If that happens we will tell you and this policy will still apply to your information.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the past 12 months. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.
7. Cookies, tracking and Do Not Track
SetDip does not use advertising cookies, analytics tools, social media pixels or any other tool that tracks you across other websites. We do not allow other companies to collect information about your activity over time and across different websites through SetDip.
Our pages store your login session and a few tablet settings in your browser's local storage so the site works. You can clear these at any time in your browser settings; you will just need to log in again.
Do Not Track: Because we do not track you across websites, we treat every visitor the same way whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal or a Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request not to sell or share your information, which we already do not do.
8. How long we keep it
- Account, business details and content: for as long as your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it within 45 days. Copies in backups are removed within 30 days after that.
- Staff checklist entries: for as long as the checklist exists, or until you delete it or your account.
- Agreement record: for as long as your account is open, plus up to 4 years after it closes, in case we need to show what you agreed to.
- Technical server logs: kept by our hosting and database providers under their own short retention schedules.
- AI requests: we do not store a separate copy of what you send to the AI. Anthropic keeps API data only for the limited time its commercial terms allow.
9. How we protect it
We use reasonable security for the kind of information we hold. Everything moves over encrypted HTTPS connections. Passwords are hashed. Database rules make sure an owner can only see and change their own business. Our AI key is kept on the server and never sent to browsers. Each provider above is bound by its own security commitments.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever exposes your personal information, we will notify you as required by California law, which generally means within 30 calendar days of discovering it.
10. Your choices and rights
Every SetDip user, wherever you live, can ask us to:
- Know and access: tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy.
- Correct: fix information that is wrong. You can change most of it yourself in the owner portal.
- Delete: delete your account and the information connected to it.
- Download: give you your recipes and checklists in a file you can take elsewhere.
- Opt out of sale or sharing: we already do not sell or share, so there is nothing to turn off.
- Limit use of sensitive information: we do not collect sensitive personal information for any purpose that would require this.
How to ask: email setdip11@gmail.com from the email address on your account with the subject "Privacy request." To protect you, we may confirm the request through that email address before acting. You may also have an authorized agent make the request for you with your signed permission. We respond within 45 days. If we need more time we will tell you why, up to another 45 days.
We will never deny you service, charge you a different price or give you a lower quality of service because you used any of these rights.
California residents may also have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California's "Shine the Light" law. The choices above cover those rights as well.
11. Your staff's information
If you ask staff to type their initials on a tablet checklist, you are responsible for letting them know that their initials and the time they check off tasks are saved and can be seen by anyone with the tablet link. We use that information only to show your checklist history to you and your team. If a staff member asks us to remove their entries, we will work with you to do that.
12. Children
SetDip is a tool for businesses. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and SetDip is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
When we update this policy we will change the effective date at the top. If we make a material change, such as using your information in a new way or adding a new type of provider, we will email account owners and show a notice in the owner portal before the change takes effect, and we will ask you to agree again where the law requires it.
14. Contact us
Questions, privacy requests or accessibility needs: email setdip11@gmail.com. If you have trouble reading this page with assistive technology, tell us and we will send it to you in a format that works for you.
